Misty became a JO and later a Mass Communication Specialist. At the time this feature was written, she was serving as a Senior Chief, an E-8, and loving every minute of it. In May 2018, Misty was promoted to E-9, a Master Chief and the highest enlisted rank in the United States Navy. She is currently a Communications Team Manager for the Navy in San Diego, California.

It's been more than twenty years since Misty set off on her journey. She's seen some amazing places and met some even more amazing people, all because of her choices. Misty found love and has known loss, but overall, she's happy to have escaped from Minnesota.
